As most of Galway’s students were headed home or to practice after school today, a group of juniors were headed to the Distance Learning room for SAT prep.
Students in the class have paid $85 to stay after school for 27 prep sessions that will run from 2:40 to 3:40 from February 3 to March 24th. The class is being taught by two math and English teachers from Corinth.
You might be wondering why a student would sign up for this many classes after school. Elizabeth Gribben explained, “I am taking the course to improve my grades on the SATs, to help me get into a good college.” Brian Mothon agreed, ” I want to get my SATs done right the first time and not have to take it again.” He added, “Today we learned the format of the class and some strategies for the test.”
What were their first impressions of the course? Gribben shared, “I liked the English teacher from Corinth, because she had good ideas and she was positive and understanding.”
Mothon had his first experience with the Distance Learning experience today: ” The Distance Learning room is kind of cool, but odd. It was strange seeing the other students on the tv, and feeling like you have no privacy at all. I think this will be a good class though.”
The next SAT test will be given on March 12th and May 7th. These after school sessions are sure to prepare these students and help them succeed.
