Listen to this!
Raven has three new selections for your listening pleasure! Check these out this summer!
1. SHEPPARD
The Sheppard family already brought their collective musical dream to life in Australia. The group includes siblings George, Amy, and Emma Sheppard they went from penning songs on their front porch to knocking Pharrell Williams’ mega-hit “Happy” off the top of the Australian charts with the international smash “Geronimo.” It’s just a precursor of what’s to come as the Australian multi-platinum indie six-piece launch BOMBS AWAY. The EP features four songs including “Geronimo.” The band explains that “Geronimo” is about “taking leaps of faith and doing something everybody else totally thinks is going to fail but you have the courage to see it through and get through it. You’re making a jump of defiance.” “Geronimo” is the 1st single and video from Australian indie pop band band SHEPPARD. SHEPPARD’s debut album BOMBS AWAY, was released in March in the US. I really like the song “Geronimo.” I like in the beginning where a man is singing softly but in the back there is a fast upbeat tempo. It’s a very complementary beginning and then it also continues throughout the song. I also like how they placed their female singer in this song. I think anyone who like indie pop or pop will like this song. They are good lyrics with an upbeat tempo. I suggest everyone go check out this song. When you’ve checked it out, come back here and leave a comment telling us what you thought of it.
2. TRAMPOLINE
There’s a powerful lineage of impressive duos throughout music history that spans everybody from Simon & Garfunkel to Method Man & Redman. When two distinct personalities join together for a singular musical mission, something special happens. Now, it’s happening again in the Bay area with twosome Kalin and Myles. Together, they stir up pop, hip-hop, and R&B into an irresistible and inimitable hybrid affectionately and appropriately dubbed “Hip Pop.” Even though they reflect a time-honored tradition, the boys represent the future from the inception of their music to their style. First meeting at a local movie theater in 2011, they kept in touch on Facebook and began formally making music together, creating their own beats, singing, and rapping. Soon afterwards, they dropped “More Than Friends” online, and the response was instantly overwhelming. They performed shows with the likes of Austin Mahone and Megan & Liz and slowly developed a fan base. Over the course of two independent EPs, the band sold nearly 300,000 digital singles to date. The group’s success amplified once more with the release of their Dedication EP less than six months later followed by the Dedication 2015 tour. The title reflects their own commitment to delivering for the countless fans worldwide who are turning them into a household name. The fast rising Bay Area hip -pop duo KALIN & MYLES’s EP DEDICATION was released in December. The song “Dedication” is a good song. It’s soft but not soft at the same time. It has a good strong beat, but its not in your face. I think this song is mostly about the lyrics. The song has really good lyrics so it’s a good thing. This song isn’t lacking because of it. I think this song is great and I think lots of you will like it too. So go check out this song then come back here and leave a comment telling us what you thought about it.
3. CARLY RAE JEPSEN
Multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen recently released her new single “I Really Like You”. The music video for this song features Tom Hanks and Justin Bieber. Jepsen wrote the track with J. Kash and The Cardigans’ Peter Svensson, who also produced it. Jepsen has been hard at work with such collaborators writing and recording the new songs that will be appearing on her U.S. debut album Kiss, which will feature her blockbuster break-out hit “Call Me Maybe.” The song “I Really Like You” is a good song. To some it might be very annoying with its repetitive lyrics, but you get the song stuck in your head and start singing it anyway. Some people will absolutely love this song and listen to it on repeat all day. I’m kind of caught in the middle with this song. I like it, it’s a good catchy song to listen to but I can only listen to it two, three time max before I want to punch myself in the face. It also depends on what mood I’m in. If I’m happy and it gets stuck in my head then it’s fine and I’m happy. But if I’m angry and it’s in my head, then it’s the most annoying thing ever. I like this song but I think it will be different with each person and their mood at the time.
