Get Fit and Lit With Samuel D’Alessandro

My name is Samuel D’Alessandro. I am currently a senior at Galway Junior Senior High School. Throughout my high school career, I have been involved with varsity sports. I have been on the wrestling, golf, soccer, and baseball teams. Golf was a sport I took up this school year, and I wish I had started sooner. We became back to back league champions, and I was top 20 in our league. Wrestling is the sport I excelled most at during high school, and is by far my favorite. I ended as a three time section two place finisher, having a couple individual tournament titles as well. Sports are something I will miss the most of high school, haven taught me so many valuable life lessons.

I am currently interning with the high school physical education teachers. I intern 4th period on both A and B days with the 8th graders. Over the past year, I have learned a lot from interning. I have learned how to make lesson plans, how to incorporate different things into different units and exercises, how to communicate with the students, and how to overall be a physical education teacher. One skill I have really improved on is public speaking. I have always struggled to speak in front of large groups, but interning has helped so much with it. Now, I am more comfortable when speaking in front or large groups, which will be extremely helpful with my future job.

In the fall, I am attending SUNY Cortland to major in Physical Education and Sports Management and minor in Health. With these different majors and minor, I will have options when searching for a job after college. I am beyond excited for my future, and can’t wait to see where I end up!
