SHIROCK is a pop/rock band from Nashville, TN, and their latest album, “Everything Burns” brings catchy melodies, overlaps of guitars and keyboards, and a variety of vocal ranges. I noticed in most of their songs their lyrics are based on personal situations, politics, and spirituality. I thought this made the album a lot more enjoyable and something I could relate to. When listening to this album, it had that west coast rock feel to it. What I mean by that is that the album reminded me of music you’d hear on MTV reality shows and it had that California/ beach rock feel to it. (The group’s music has been on the TV show “The Hills”) and their music has also been played on the ABC, NBC, and MTV networks.
Bandmates:
Chuck Shirock: vocals, guitar, and piano
Pap Shirock: vocals and keyboard
Adam Gatchel:drums and percussion
Kevin Whitsett:bass
Evan Weatherford:guitar
Chuck is the founder of the band, and towards the end of high school he met Pap. They both had a passion for music, and in college both of them began recording demos and playing various shows. At the end of college, they met Adam and bassist Derek Blank. They began touring and called themselves SHIROCK. Afterwards they added guitarist Jason Bynum, but in 2009 Derek and Jason left the band and Kevin and Evan joined the band.
SHIROCK launched Everything Burns which is a non-profit organization that promotes making a difference in people’s communities and around the world. SHIROCK visits schools, giving speeches about being a positive influence and making a difference. They also have a clothing line, Irock Clothing, which has shirts, jackets, bags, and accessories.
