GALWAY–On Friday December 16th The Lady Eagles played St. Johnsville. Losing to them last year, the girls knew that they were in for a good game. The junior varsity girls started out with a win. Then it was time for the varsity team. After the warm-ups, the “Star Spangled Banner” and the Galway Alma Mater, the Lady Eagles were ready to kick some St. Johnsville butt. They announced the starters: Tegan Matthews, Abby Spagnola, Kendra McDonald, Erica Chase and Bridgid McFadden. Bridgid won the tip-off but the other team stole it. By the end of the first quarter Galway was down 4 to 8. St. Joe started leading 4 to 12. But we came from behind and led the scoreboards winning at the end of the first half with a score of 19-18.
As the crowd roared and the cheerleaders screamed, Galway kept up the intensity and led the scoreboards the rest of the game. Even though we lost two players, Abby Spagnola and Kendra McDonald to foul trouble, everyone on the team played a hundred percent and made sure the other team wouldn’t have a run and beat us. During the second half the score was close at many points in time. But with a score of 40 to 32 the Lady Eagles pulled out and won! Another victory for the Lady Eagles!
