Eagles Media Center is pleased to announce its new sports section: the “Sultan of Sports,” written by me, Cody Marshall.  I have been following sports since I was in first grade at Stillwater Elementary School, and I’ve been improving my skills as a sports analyst and commentator ever since. For me, sports are a key part of life. Although winning is the most important thing at the professional level, the athletes’ behind-the-scenes actions show how sports are more than just games and points. With each of my articles, I plan on writing with as little bias as possible–although I do have favorite players and teams myself. I’m the first person who will admit that a player that rivals my favorite team is a good player (if he has the stats to back it up).

Personally, my favorite sport is baseball. After all, it’s America’s pastime and my best sport. Since I found out about my dad trying out for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Royals, my love for the game has truly taken off. If it was a year round sport, my interest would be strictly baseball. However, part of being a good sports reporter is the ability to provide insight to a multiple array of sports. Therefore, I’m going to focus mainly on football, basketball, and baseball.

My goal is to use my reporting to jump start my future and begin reaching toward my goal of eventually working for ESPN. At the moment, I’m undecided as to where I will go for college, but I’m positive that I will be majoring in either Mass Communications or Sports Communication, depending on the school.
