GALWAY–Mr. Healey is the new principal of the Galway Junior/Senior High School, and many students would like to know more about him.
Is it hard settling into a new school? He said it was going great so far and that all the students and teachers have been very welcoming and helpful. Before Mr. Healey came to Galway he was the principal at Northville High School.
Is Galway a big change from his previous school? Galway is twice the size, but the students are alike and have similar interests. Mr. Healey says that he has many ideas for the future of Galway. He is not sure what will become of them, but he wants to move the school further forward, mostly around academics. He plans to maximize what our school has and make the best of our situation.
As you all know, there have been many changes around the school this year, especially with the dress code. Could these changes benefit our school in the long run? He said that he understands the importance of individualism and expressing yourself, but he wants the school environment to be treated as a public place, like in a career. He said it’s all a lesson of self-respect and if used appropriately then the rules will be very successful.
Mr. Healey appeared very excited for his upcoming school year at Galway. He looks forward to meeting everyone (students, family, teachers), and working together to making the school a better place.
It is very obvious that Mr. Healey loves his job. He really enjoys being a principal and he loves working with kids. He was once a teacher and decided to go in a different direction, into administration, to help improve all aspects of a school. At this moment he is very happy with his career and comfortable in his position. Mr. Healey also commented that his favorite part of his job is that he never experiences the same day twice. There is always a way for him to make a difference. Mr. Healey is hoping to try to offer more programs to Galway to help get kids ready for their future. If you haven’t already, make sure you introduce yourself to Mr. Healey and welcome him to Galway!
