Spamalot…starring Noah Hitchcock!

GALWAY–After getting his start in acting in elementary school, and taking part in a production of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” Galway High School’s own Noah Hitchcock will be starring in the Galway Little Theater’s production of “Spamalot” this weekend. “Spamalot” is the story of King Arthur with plenty of British humor.

In order to be a part of a production like this, you have to audition first. Noah explained that it was a fun process. He had to read different lines and sing different songs. Following his audition, the group called him and told him what roles they thought would fit him best.

Noah has not just one role, but two! He will play Not Dead Fred, a character who dances, lies on the stage after being hit with a shovel, and tries to persuade everybody that is character is not really dead. His other role is that of The French Taunter. Noah has to speak in a “semi-thick” French accent, he gets to call the British people names, and spit at them as well. He has been practicing since January, every Sunday from 1-6pm. However, as show time draws near, the practices are getting longer.

The Galway Little Theater group is made up of adults, and in this production, Noah will be the only student and youngest person in the cast. He said he’s had a lot of fun doing the play and proving himself to the other cast members who have been acting in productions for years. When asked how it was working with adults, he explained it was more fun and professional working with adults. Noah plans to continue acting throughout the rest of his life.

“Everyone should come and see the play,” Noah commented.

“Spamalot” will be presented by the Galway Little Theater at the Galway High School auditorium Friday, May 3 at 7pm, Saturday, May 4 at 7pm, and Sunday May 5 at 2pm. Adult tickets cost $9 and students are $7. Hope to see you there!
