Have you ever dreamt you had wings and could fly through the air, then Maximum Ride series is for you. Maximum Ride was written by James Patterson. The Maximum ride series is made up of eight books that are young adult science fiction fantasy novels.
Maximum Ride lived her whole life at a laboratory called The School; we’re her and her fellow avian-human hybrids Nudge, Angel, Fang, Iggy and the Gasman. The Flock as they call themselves have 98% human and 2% bird DNA meaning they have wings and other weird abilities. They were raised and experiment on by the evil scientists or white coats as they call them. They were saved by one of these white coats named Jeb Batchelder; he took them away and raised The Flock like they were his own children. Unfortunately he went missing leaving Max as the leader.
Besides the White coats the other threats to The Flock are the Erasers which are human-lupine hybrids that were created by The School. Throughout the series there are many other monstrosities that The Flock must face. Max also has trouble when see runs into Jeb’s seven year old son Ari who was turned into an Eraser when Jeb helped The Flock escape.
The series is made up of eight books. The first three are called The Fugitives. The first book is Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiments. The next is Maximum Ride: School’s Out Forever. Followed by the last of The Fugitives is Maximum Ride: Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports. The other five books are The Protectors. The first of this one is Maximum Ride: The Final Warning, followed by the fifth book MAX: A Maximum Ride Novel. Fang: A Maximum Ride Novel is the sixth book of the series. The next is Angel: A Maximum Ride Novel. Then the final book of the series is Nevermore: The Final Maximum Ride Adventure.
This series was great and I wish it didn’t have to end, but sadly all good things must end. I give Max and her Flock five out of five stars. I recommend the series to everyone that reads this article. To let you all know the library contains the series and I recommend you check them out fast before the end of the school year. I am sad to say that Maximum Ride is being adapted as a film scheduled for release in January 2014 although it was originally scheduled for release in 2010, so all you out there should read the books first.
