Rocket Day
GALWAY–Rocket Day was held on the Second of November, and this year it was quite the turn out. It was a warm sunny, and only got a bit chilly towards the end of the day. With about 53 rockets made, of all shapes and sizes, and approximately 200 people from all over, Mr. Darlington (the man in charge, and the physics teacher at Galway) was shocked to see how popular the event has become over the last few years. He says, “It was great to see community members of all ages launching rockets to new records. We are running out of field space!” Last year at Rocket Day, Rebekah Reichard and Paige Galloway set the record at a whopping 220 yards. However this year, Molly Mancini and Che White broke the record with 266 yards, and Amy Engel and her father beat everyone there with a crazy length of 280 yards. Mr. Darlington is very pleased with how the event has evolved: “We had a record crowd and record distances.”
