Britt Keller: Galway’s rising star
Britt Keller is very well known here in Galway as a star. You probably know her as being very talented and musical from starring as Annie Oakley in Galway High’s 2014 production of “Annie Get Your Gun.” But maybe you didn’t know that Britt has other talents related to music. She plays guitar, she sings, and she writes her own songs.
“I’ve been writing lyrics since I could basically write” replied Britt when asked how she got started. Lyric writing has been a passion of hers for a long time and she has been writing whole songs since about a year ago. She has written a total of 130 songs “and counting.” She actually has two albums and is coming out with her third, “Blue Wind” very soon.
On the new album, Britt sings about love, life and many things that are beyond her years. Her music is what she describes as a mix of country and punk-rock influences, but it has that factor that just says this is a genre all its own. “I don’t want to be mainstream country,” she says and has certainly achieved her goal of being unique. Her favorite songs on the new album are “You’re Not Here,” which she says that she enjoys for lyrical reasons, and “Forgetting” which is her favorite because it carried her message for the whole album well. Overall, the album is well put together and a true unique masterpiece by the one and only Britt Keller.
When asked what inspires her, Britt replied, “I find inspiration in anything.” She believes that everyday life is what should be put in songs and you can find it in a lot of her music. There are people that inspire Britt too. She loves Garth Brooks and when asked who inspires her lyrics she replied with great enthusiasm, “Oh my gosh, Green Day! Billy Joe Armstrong… I think he’s a lyrical genius.”
Britt’s new album will be on sale very soon so you can buy your own copy and listen for yourself! Britt will also be performing an original at the Coffee House this Friday, November 7. Make sure you’re there to cheer on Galway’s favorite superstar!

Brittany Keller…you are literally the most deserving person I’ve ever met. The passion you put into songwriting and singing is a kind of passion that inspires many people. When you moved here, Galway DID receive a star. And people like you are going to make it extremely far in life because you pour your heart and soul into all that you do. I can’t wait for your new album to come out and I promise you that I’ll be the first person to buy it! I love you so much and we’re all so proud of all that you’ve achieved. Keep up the good work!
