Homecoming Breakfast

Every year, Homecoming weekend is always a big event that allows people in Galway to get together and enjoy exciting events that occur at the school. Homecoming weekend started off on Friday night with the varsity girls’ volleyball game when they won, which was a really exciting game to see. Saturday of Homecoming weekend was also a day filled with excitement, since there was going to be a parade with the different grade level floats, two varsity soccer games, and the activity I’m writing about — the Homecoming Breakfast.

The Homecoming Breakfast is an event that the senior class put on to raise money of our senior trip in April. Last year during Homecoming weekend was the first year that our class started this activity, and we decided to do it again this year since it was such a success. Our menu at the event was delicious. We had croissants, French toast, breakfast meats like sausage, ham, and bacon, eggs, hash browns, fresh fruit, apple cider donuts and bagels and English muffins. The people there got all of that delicious food for just eight dollars for adults, or five dollars for children. From when we started at 8:00 to when we ended at 10:30, we made over $1,000 for our class, which was really nice! It was a very fun event that definitely paid off.

The breakfast wouldn’t have been possible without all the people working to make it a success. Mrs. Donnan, our class advisor, played a huge role in setting things up and helped us get situated on the day of the breakfast. Custodians George Simkins and Taylor Hugo were a huge help by helping us get everything set up before the breakfast, and also helped us get everything clean after! The seniors that worked at the breakfast on Saturday were Maya and Leah Vanderhorst, Erik and Justin Matthews, Jake Restivo, Griffen Gannon, Grace Montague, Graham Willbrant, Zarah Chaverri, Meaghan Whalen, Molly Ryan, Tyler Larson, Josh Scheeren, Christina DesPres and James Hofmann. Tyler’s uncle, Damien, was extremely important to making this breakfast successful since he was the one who cooked all of the delicious food for us, and we can’t thank him enough!

The Homecoming Breakfast was a great and delicious event that started the Saturday of Homecoming off right. Thank you to everyone who helped out with it, and also thank you to everyone who came and supported the senior class. I definitely encourage next year’s seniors to put this breakfast on again, since it definitely was a sweet success and a great way to raise money for the class!
