Do you love poetry, public speaking, or drama? Poetry Out Loud is the competition for you! Each competitor chooses two poems from the approved list at poetryoutloud.org to memorize and is scored on their recitation. The areas of scoring include, physical presence, articulation, evidence of understanding, dramatic appropriateness, and accuracy. All of that sounds complicated, but it really isn’t! You don’t have to be Edgar Allan Poe, just participate to have fun! Or even to possibly win a prize! The top two scorers will receive $50 Amazon gift cards, and the third and fourth placers will receive $25 Amazon gift cards. The top two scorers will move onto a regional round competing against other schools. Tell your English teacher if you are interested! The school competition is on December 2nd and will be held over Google Meets.
