Mental Health Statistics from 2022 that everyone should know:

  1. 19.86% of adults (50 million) are experiencing a mental illness
  2. 7.74% of adults reported a substance use disorder in the past year
  3. 15.08% of youth report having experienced at least one depressive episode in the past year
  4. 12% of youth with severe depression receive constant care
  5. Youth who identify as more than one race have the highest rates of severe depression
  6. 1 out of every 7 people aged 10-19 experience mental health conditions every day
  7. Suicide is the 4th leading cause of death for 15-29 year olds
  8. 4.6% of 15-19 year olds experience an anxiety disorder
  9. 68% of parents say they have seen their child experience severe mental and emotional challenges
  10. 47% of parents who seek therapy for their child do so because of their child’s lack of socialization

Everyone has challenges, going out of your way to do something as simple as talking to someone new can make the world of difference for them. This is a big problem, and nothing is going to happen if we don’t all do something about it. Help the people around you, check in with the people you care about, and be kind to everyone.
