Baseball card collecting is a great hobby whether you like to build sets or just find neat cards it’s always fun to collect! I started collecting baseball cards when I was 5 but a year ago I really started to get serious about it. It’s a lot of fun when you get a neat card that you need or find one in a box of random cards and it’s valuable. My prized possession so far is my graded 4 1952 bowman PeeWee Reese, a player that personally knew Jackie Robinson and played with him and made it into the Hall of Fame. I am currently collecting 1964 Topps that have many players that made it into the Hall of Fame. I recently bought an Al Kaline card from that year.
When It comes to sealed packs, I don’t think it’s ever really worth it because the odds of pulling the card and having it be cheaper than just buying it, is very slim. I do however collect sealed packs because they are valuable because of the chance to get a rare card. I really enjoy buying boxes of hundreds of cards for dirt cheap when they are unsorted and finding neat cards. One time I bought a box of cards for 5$ and found 2 error cards that were worth 20$ each and sold one and kept the other.
My favorite shop to go to is Al’s House of Sports Cards and Collectibles in Schenectady because Mr. Al always has the cards I need and thousands and thousands of other neat cards. Usually when I go there I find some neat cards that I need for sets but I also usually find cards that I never even knew existed that are amazing. For example, I saw a card with game used uniform stitched onto the card that Gil Hodges wore a player that also played with Jackie Robinson and was a amazing inductee of the Hall of Fame.
Baseball card collecting is an amazing hobby and can be a lot of fun!
