A good deed chain is both a craft, a decoration and a reminder to do kind things for others.

When you make a good deed chain, always start by cutting out about 13 green strips of paper and 13 red ones that are about ½ inch thick and 6 inches long. Next, you think of kind things to do for the community, like making cookies for the fire station or just something simple but kind like complimenting someone or holding the door for someone. Then list them on a Google doc. Next print out the list, cut out each good dead and glue them to the red and green strips of paper. Then just make sure they go from green to red and fold them into a circle shape and staple them together so it becomes a long chain.

Ever since I was 4 years old, my family has put together a good deed chain. I’m pretty sure my mom came up with the idea and we have been making them ever since. Whenever the library holds a Christmas workshop for little kids to make presents for their family, I always volunteer and in my free time make one or make one at home with my family. 

Making it and doing the tasks are great ways to spend time with your family during the Christmas season. Plan to do one!
