Okay… so I’m truly sorry boys, but this one is mostly for the girls.
If you’re looking for a jaw dropping, feet kicking, late night giggling, and middle of class-can’t put down, type of book… well, I found it. Lynn Painter’s YA romance novel The Do Over, about an unexpected repeating Valentine’s Day, was by far my favorite book I’ve read this year. Painter always packs her books with the aspect of ‘this can never be… but we wish it could,’ and that is definitely the thing that always seems to get me hooked. The characters are funny and unique and the way Nick will surprise you is just amazing. Painter uses multiple examples of dynamic characters and also incorporates many new characters towards the climax and falling action. I originally selected this book because I thought it would be a romance novel and solely that, but found myself staying for the interactions of such high emotions between Nick and Emily. He was never afraid to show his feelings on that special day… but when she saw through his shell… he knew he had to hide.
I hope you all enjoy this book as much as I did!
