The DaVinci Code is a book by Dan Brown that was also turned into a movie with Tom Hanks. It is about the myths and theories made about the Holy Grail. The story is about Sophie Neveu and Robert Langton who run all around Paris trying to find the Holy Grail on a treasure hunt.
Both the book and the movie are full of adventure and excitement and I would recommend it to anyone who likes National Treasure.
To make this as exciting as it is, Dan Brown wrote a lot of twists, turns, and different point of views in his book which is what makes it so great but also very complex, so if I misinterpreted it in any way that is my fault.
The book came first so I have less to say about it than the movie but there are a few things that I like a lot better in the book itself. First, I did read the book before watching the movie so when I watched the movie I knew about all the surprises and plot twists and I naturally found the book more exciting, but it would be equally interesting if you watched the movie first.
What I liked most about the book is that you get to see what each character is thinking which is something that you don’t see in the movie. I also like that they explain everything in great detail. This story is based on a lot of crazy theories that only make sense if you have the whole picture and they give you all the information in the book while in the movie they only give you the basic outline. Therefore I would recommend reading the book before the movie.
The movie is, I think, a great addition to the book. I am also a big fan of Tom Hanks movies so that may be a factor in why I liked it so much. I will say that when the movie was made, they changed or cut a few parts from the book as most movies do. I can’t really blame them for cutting some scenes because it is a 2 hour and 30 minute movie and I don’t think it should be too much longer although I would still watch it if it was.
The other thing is that I feel like the movie was (understandably) focused on Tom Hanks. In the book Sophie and Robert work together to solve all the clues while in the movie it is Robert (played by Tom Hanks) that solved the majority of the clues without much help. I do think that they did a pretty good job at keeping the movie mostly like the book.
I don’t think that one is way better than the other. I am more of a visual person so seeing everything play out in a movie helped me understand the story better but like I said I really like the detail that they give you in the book. I think that it’s really just a matter of preference. The other thing is if you just really like reading books and not a big movie person then you’ll like the book better and if you don’t like reading then you’ll like the movie better. Although if you don’t like reading you probably aren’t reading this anyway.
In conclusion, The DaVinci Code is a great book and a great movie that I would recommend to everyone. If you like mysteries, murder mysteries, or historical myths then you will like this movie and/or book. If you like all three then you will love this movie and/or book.
