What pains me most is the silence so many have in their communication of love. Whether a friend, a family member, a lover, a stranger – we’ve all passed up opportunities to express our love. And we may not even realize it at the time. Maybe not until they’re gone from our lives do we realize all the things we wish we had said. Sometimes it will hit me that the last time I saw someone I love I didn’t express it. Instead we talked just about the awful test we took last period or complain about the snow or something ultimately so insignificant. So now I make a conscious effort to at least smile. I’ve found that a smile sometimes says so much more than words. Never underestimate the power of a true, genuine smile while looking into the eyes of someone you love.
But of course, you should tell them how much you love them too because on our worst days a smile might not be enough.

I can tell you truly breathe this, Molly, because I have observed you make a conscious effort to smile before departing from a conversation with others.
