Football season is over with the results of Super Bowl XLV (45) making Green Bay Packer fans extremely content. On Sunday February 6, 2011 the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers battled it out in Arlington, Texas. Both teams came ready to play, but the first half was mostly dominated by Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. The second half the Pittsburgh Steelers came alive in the second half and continued to fight until the very end. Unfortunately for the Steelers and their fans they would fall short. The final of score of the game was 31 to 25.
The Packers won the coin toss and decided to defer to the second half, which allowed the Steelers to start the game. The Packers defense ended up closing the Steelers offense causing them to have to punt after 3 down attempts. Later in the first quarter, Aaron Rodgers a 29 yard pass to Jordy Nelson, number 87, for the first touch down of the game. About 30 seconds later Nick Collins, number 36 of Green Bay, intercepted the football and scored a 36 yard touch down.
Finally, in the second quarter the Steelers were on the board with a 33 yard field goal from kicker Shaun Suisham, number 6. Some time later, Jarrett Bush, number 24 of the Green Bay Packers, would intercept the football. This interception would lead to a touch down from Greg Jennings, number 85 of the Green Bay Packers. The Pittsburgh Steelers would answer back with an 8 yard touch down of the own by Hines Ward number 86. The first half ended with the score of 21 to 10.
The Pittsburgh Steelers woke up in the second half. First they shut down the first few plays if the Green Bay Packers offense forcing them to have to punt. Then the Steelers offense led by Ben Roethlisberger made 5 plays that led to the scoring of a touch down by number 34, Rashard Mendenhall. The Packers would get the ball again and on 3rd down they would throw their challenge flag to challenge whether or not the pass had been an incomplete pass or a catch. The officials after reviewing the play ruled it an incomplete pass. The fourth quarter opened with the Pittsburgh Steelers fumbling and the football being recovered by Desmond Bishop, number 55, at the Packers own 35. Aaron Rodgers threw a pass to Greg Jennings for a touch down making the score 28-17. Mike Wallace scored a Pittsburgh touch down and the Steelers attempted a 2 point conversion which made the score 28-25. The final score of the game would be from Green Bay’s Mason Crosby number 2 who kicked a field goal. This gave the Packers the win over the Steelers.
