By Maddy Ritter, Grade 7
Let’s do this is our girls’ basketball team’s motto. The girls modified basketball team is coached by Mr. Wilday. The team is made of four 8th graders (Katelynn Gailor, Sara Larocca, Kalea Barnes and Nicole Kerry) and ten 7th graders (Breana Doherty, Devon Eriole, Britany Kenyon, Hannah Pawlowski, Maddy Ritter, Rachel Reichard, Jeni Rumsey, Amber Schwab and Julia Seeley. The team has played nine games and won four. The next home game is January 23rd against Sharon Springs. This Saturday, they will be home again.
Coach Wilday is said to be tough because he wants the team to do well. He makes the players work but also knows how to make each player laugh.
PLAYER SPOTLIGHT
Hannah Pawlowski plays a forward mostly, as one of three pointguards. She’s a good dribbler, left and right. Mostly right though. Her basketball strengths are passing and dribbling. This is her first year.
Julia Seeley plays as a forward and loves to be aggressive. She’s great at making steals and then going in for a lay-ups. She’s the only who listens to Mr. Wilday when he jokes around saying “poke her in the eye.” During a game, Julia got a steal and jammed her elbow back, hitting a girl right in the eye with her elbow.
Katelynn Gailor is a forward and a guard, best for driving to the hoop. She is also good at lay-ups.

Love the team motto and you are lucky to have coach Wilday as a coach, he has lots of experience. Good luck with your season.
