No Skittles. No gum. Sharp wires that come loose and pierce and slice the insides of your mouth. And of course, your teeth, covered with braces for months, or even years. Have you ever had to endure this agony? Freshman Anna Kenneally has, but now she’s free!

Jennica Nash: How does it feel to have your braces off?

Anna Kenneally: It’s not bumpy anymore, feels smooth, it makes me feel more secure and confident about myself

JN: What color braces have you had?

AK: red, green, purple, blue, yellow, pink, orange, black, green and purple,  green and pink, red and green, orange and black

JN: What was your favorite color or combination?

AK: purple was the best

JN: How long were they on?

AK: I had them on for two and a half years.

JN: How long have they been off?

AK: Only like a month now.

JN: Have they ever been caught on anything?

AK: They always got caught on gum, but they have gotten caught on clothes too.

JN: Would you want them on again?

AK: No way, never ever again

JN: Do you were a retainer?

AK: Only at night when I go to bed.

JN: Was it weird getting them removed?

AK: Well it smelled like cigarettes, and they shaved my tooth on accident! It was kinda scary.

JN: Anything else you’re scared of, related to having braces?

AK:Kissing, I didn’t wanna be stuck to someone else.

JN: Did it hurt getting them tightened?

AK: Yeah, it hurt the first couple of times, but after they were tightened I want to cry! I didn’t have my french fries, it was awful.
