“The bigger the family, the more time is spent together, because you’re all doing different things during the week, so it’s nice to get together and have family time,” according to sophomore Kaitee Horstmann.

Every home’s family life is different.  Kaitee lives with her three siblings, fourteen pets, and parents.   With a busy at work father and three sisters, coming together as a family is an important part of her life.  She appreciates when they all come to see her at one of her plays,  watch her at a soccer game, or just go out together.

“My family and I were watching an old lady give a performance with her bird puppet, when the puppet started asking about the handsome man next to me. We were all looking around as she came down, and this puppet started flirting with my dad! We never let him forget it for the rest of the day, and couldn’t stop laughing,” Kaitee shared about their experience at the fair together.

They often travel around to see extended family.   Even when her busy father and sister couldn’t make it to Florida to see their grandmother, they used a web-cam to keep in touch. “My grandma didn’t quite understand how to get the webcam working, so she had to have her neighbor come over to help her out,” Kaitee shared.

Along with the five people she lives with, Kaitee’s home is filled with animals: two dogs, sheep, and twelve rabbits. There’s always a furry family member around the corner.

When she’s not busy with schoolwork or enjoying time with her family , Kaitee  finds time to have fun and relax with music.  As a girl growing up with a heart for country and farms, she listens to things you wouldn’t quite expect. This country farm girl listens to some hard core rap and pop.  She’s been known to sing along with Toby Keith,  rap with 2 Chains, and dance to anything with a beat.
