Going ghost?
Most people are probably looking at the title of this article, confused about what it’s all about.
Ghosting: the act of suddenly cutting off all communications with someone, particularly a boyfriend/girlfriend, who no you longer wish to date. The ghoster thinks that the ghostee will “get the message” that they no longer want to date them anymore instead of telling them they are not longer interested. The tendency to ghost is closely associated with a person’s maturity level and communication skills. People use ghosting as a way to not try and hurt the ghostee’s feelings. However, ghosting only creates more confusion for the ghostee.
Ghosting isn’t just about romantic relationships; it also happens within friendships as well. Getting ghosted in a friendship is just as confusing as a relationship.
What are the points of going ghost though, and what are the reasons people go ghost?
1. Your friend/partner was actually just a complete jerk.
2. You were completely insane.
Yes, these are the two reasons that ghosting exists. The ghoster is only trying to benefit their own selfish needs without “trying to hurt your feelings,” except that’s exactly what they end up doing anyway.
Casey Dunleavy spoke about her ghosting experience: “People may think that the entire idea of ghosting is something only a coward would do, but in all honesty, it’s probably one of the smartest things I have ever done. I can escape the situation without the messiness of the whole ‘I can’t be friends with you anymore, because you’re just really bad at it, and I’m sick of feeling bad about myself because I’m surrounded by people who constantly treat me less than I deserve.’ That’s where feelings get hurt and people get upset. Ghosting is the smartest way to go, and I wouldn’t change the way I handled the situation.”
What do you think about going ghost? Is it absolutely crazy or is it acceptable? Do you think people who ghost their loved ones are cowards or taking the high road? Leave your comments below!

Even though the whole point is that you may not want to answer them, I feel like ghosting leaves behind too many questions. Really depends on your situation too…
